Name: Dennis Johnson
Sex: Male
Age: 57
Location: The Woodlands, TX
Riding Background: I began riding in 2005 as a way to lose weight and get fit. Crewing for Jim Kern's 2006 solo RAAM attempt gave me a desire to race. My first was the Texas Time Trial 12-hour later that year.
How did you get into Recumbents? I was looking for a way to ride more comfortably for longer distances. A friend suggested trying a recumbent. After doing some research and test riding several different types and brands, I had no doubt that a Bacchetta was best for me.
What Bacchetta do you ride? CA 1.0 and CA 2.0
2009 Race results: Texas Time Trials, 24-hour solo, first overall
Personal Best Rides: My first 24-hour race at Sebring, 2008, in which I RAAM qualified.
Events planned to attend for the rest of 2010:
Sebring 12-hour, February 13, first among all riders in my age group
Race Across Oregon, solo, July 24
With over 40,000 feet of climbing in 535 miles, RAO has been the primary focus of over a year and a half of training. Only three solo recumbent riders have completed this race in its eleven-year history.
Tejas 500, solo, September 23
