Riding Background:
I’ve been riding bikes non-stop since I learned to ride. I ride a bike for transportation, recreation, competition, vacation – everything. When I want to go somewhere, be it the store or Seattle, I go by bike.

How did you get into Recumbents?
I rode a hybrid for ten years and did occasional organized centuries. I thought I could do them faster and have more fun on a legitimate road bike. Before I got around to shopping for one, though, around the age of 25 I saw a picture of a steel M5 Lowracer. I realized that would be faster and more fun yet. That lit the spark, and I’ve been buying and selling bikes (and not just recumbents!) to try to find the perfect ones for my needs ever since. My Aero is a keeper, and recumbents have turned me into the rider I am today – without them, there is absolutely no way I would ride as much or be as strong.

How did you get asked to be a TEAM BACCHETTA team mate?
I owned a highracer from another manufacturer, which busted in half after I pedaled it over New Zealand’s Southern Alps. I needed a new, fast, reliable bike for real world riding and road racing. John Schlitter knew me from having raced against me at Wasco the previous two years, and had noted my contribution to the winning Race Across Oregon team. At John Climaldi’s recommendation, he signed me up, and it’s been a match made in heaven.

What Bacchetta do you ride?
I ride a customized Ti Aero with a compact double crank and HED Alps wheels.
