More Performance Resources

We have a few recommendations for some great web sites that cover training for racing and long distance touring. Here are some of our favorites:

Peak Performance
Their “Library” of information is cataloged on the left hand side of their home page. They have an entire section devoted to cycling. This web site may deliver the most comprehensive information regarding general training and nutrition for cycling and all other sports. They have the most up-to-date research and data from the top exercise physiologists, translated very well for athletes and coaches. You could spend months digesting their huge database of sports and nutrition information!

Masters Athlete Physiology and Performance (MAPP)
Exercise physiology Doc Stephen Seiler does a great job explaining the complex human engine in a very readable and entertaining style. The site has not been updated for quite some time, but still has timeless info on the exercise physiology basics! A section of articles are dedicated to the sport of cycling.

Hammergel “Endurance News”
This site contains great research from a commercial source about maintaining and replacing the body's energy in extremely stressful endurance events! Check out their library of “Endurance News”.

The following web sites feature technical information and reviews about bikes to help you in your racing and touring events:

Analytic Cycling
This web site is complete with technical methods for evaluating and estimating cycling performance and parameters. Tom Compton's Analytic Cycling uses advanced mathematical equations and methods for use in their bike science calculations.

Bike Tech Review
Kraig Willet authors this web site, focusing on upright bicycles. Using scientific methods, his unbiased information covers wheel, fork, and tire data, among other things. Some data is only available by subscription (to support his excellent independent wind tunnel work).
