BACCHETTA CAFÉ INSPECTION NOTICE!

Café frames with serial numbers
FE5E0501 thru FE5E0625 and FE5G0001 thru FE5G0005

It has come to our attention that there may be a problem with a small number of Café frames. To ensure the safety of our customers we are asking Café owners with the serial numbers listed above to visually inspect their frame as a precautionary measure before riding them again. Café owners that sent in their registration cards will also receive this notice via US mail.

The serial number on your Café frame is stamped along the edge of the bottom bracket shell on the non-drive side of the bike. (see photo #1) Customers with these serial numbers should inspect the weld zone in the middle of the frame, paying close attention to where the weld meets the gusset on the underside of the frame. (see photo #2) If you find any signs of a crack, or paint loss in this weld zone, you should not ride your bike and contact your dealer immediately about a replacement frame. If you are not comfortable inspecting your own bike please take it to your dealer and have them inspect the bike for you. If your Café serial number does not start with FE5 there is no need to inspect your frame or contact your dealer. That said, we would also add that it is a good idea to periodically make a close inspection of any bicycle frame. We recommend that you inspect all your bikes at least twice a year. Thanks in advance for your time and attention on this matter.
